Support Inventory

The purpose of this tool is to identify people who can help support you as you work on your self-improvement goals. Write down the names of people who support you in your work and personal relationships. If one person’s name appears too often, you may be overly reliant upon them. Create a robust support network.

Shield
Someone who protects me, covers my back, watches out for me, and sees things I may miss that could hurt me, doesn’t let others ridicule me in my absence.

Mirror
Someone who reflects back my picture of what I’ve said I want. Helps me stay true to my best self.

Provocateur
Someone who can firmly and directly tell me I am on the wrong track or challenge me to question my beliefs/opinions.

Sounding Board
Someone who understands my need to vent my frustrations without having to reply, argue, or respond personally.

Storyteller
Someone who can tell stories or draw analogies so I can learn from his/her experience.

Jester
Someone who can charm me out of a bad mood and encourage me to enjoy things more and laugh at myself.

Consultant
Someone whose advice I respect and value. Who helps me understand the potential consequences of choices I am making.

Believer
Someone who believes that I am always trying to do the right thing and supports me even when I make mistakes, and reminds me of my best self.

Advisor
Someone who offers me resources to help me execute my choices.
